Nickelpoint in the Community

As Five Points' original and very own brewery, we are very serious about continuing, preserving and growing our great relationship with the neighbors.  We value your company and support and as a result, we are making every effort to make Nickelpoint a family friendly, neighborhood oriented destination that is warm and welcoming!

We bring food trucks on weekends for your convenience while providing weekly entertainment on Fridays or Saturdays.  There are plenty of activities for kids including giant jenga, coloring books, chalk, and a play table. We also offer, foosball, cornhole and boardgames for adult patrons.  The beer garden outside is a work-in-progress and we hope to provide you a comfortable seating area during beautiful days under the Carolina sky.

Making beer involves using four ingredients: water, barley, hops, and yeast. This is a seemingly simple recipe, but it requires the utmost care and skill to manage the process from raw materials to finished product in order to make a quality product.  The brewery must pay strict attention to conditions during the brew day, manage the variability of raw materials, and monitor the health of the yeast, just to name a few. The old saying “the devil is in the details” certainly applies to the process of making beer!

What happens to all the by-products of this complex and sometimes cumbersome process?  We at Nickelpoint believe in sustainability in our operational processes and attempt to reduce our carbon footprint wherever we can. Water used during brewing cycles is re-used in cooling and heating tanks reducing waste water and electric costs due to heating of water. We are beginning to grow yeast in-house to reduce purchasing and transportation costs.  The spent grain from each batch of our beer is transported to Barley Mill Farms to be used for cattle feed.
